I'm having my first solo expo - INtime EXtime, starting from next Saturday the 17th November.
The pieces I'll be showing aren't what most people are used to from Minicyn but then again some of us enjoy evolving.

I don’t like to put too many words on my own artwork aka overkill, much like killing the magic of a private conversation we have with a sunset... I'll leave it to those who could come visit, try on, touch, ask questions, have a drink with me even. Like it don’t like it, it’s all welcome.

They'll be 5 pieces of fairly wholesome work in stoneware (hollow beads) all hand built then some smaller collection in Silver made from ze jeweller's bench.

Lastly! A fun tiny tiny souvenir for those who can make it!

Minicyn at NY City Jewellery Week with ‘Earrings Galore’ event

Minicyn has been selected to participate in this year’s Earrings Galore (EG) Heidi Lowe event. It will also be part of The New York City Jewelry Week NYCJW 2021 from November 15th to the 21st. You will be able find more than a handful of the Connections collection and a pair of the special Kowhai in the Wind earrings.

EG is a signature annual juried exhibition, is a rich and diverse array of earrings made by emerging and established studio jewelers. Each artist’s unique approach to the earring format will be represented in a cohesive grouping of earrings. The exhibition is intended to create more access for the public to see art jewelry, cultivate connections with the community and provide an opportunity for visitors to add new pieces to their jewelry collections.

After a long 2 month period of packing up my atelier in the 18th district, then finally even managed to to take a small 5 day break to boot! I’m now ready to roll-ish in the slow French August/September way to my new location.

Just a quick update for those in Australia who wish to order some unique and limited edition pieces from Studio Melt in Newcastle. they’re now available. But please be aware that there are only one pair to some of the designs.

For my French customers, coming up from the beginning of October up to January 2022 – a small collection of my new models will be at EMPREINTES - Le concept store des métiers d'art.

C'est unique! One-of-a-kind

The recent restrictions have prompted something I’ve always wanted to focus on more, is to concentrate more on unique/one-of-a-kind jewellery. This allows me to embark on the exercise of techniques, challenges and using objects, gemstones I have stashed away for decades now.

Here are only just some pics of my most recent output; A necklace with a special Dendrictic Agate and a pair of earrings with vintage/antique optometrist lenses. What fun!

New whimsical pieces for Spring

As we head officially into Spring in Paris, it is a time to experience what the French would say ‘En Avril, ne te découvre pas d'un fil et en Mai, fais ce qu'il te plaît !’ - the literal translation would be ‘In April, don't lose your head and in May, do what you like!’.
Basically, don’t lose yourself in the one week of hopeful warm weather as you may find yourself covered in snow the next until May. Reminds me of the Crowded House song too ‘Four Seasons In One Day’! The latter explains it in a much simpler and direct way.

Here are some new whimsical pieces for Spring, inspired by the magical art of Stone/Rock Balancing.

PARCOURS BIJOUX est un parcours parisien d’évènements dédiés à la création contemporaine du bijou, français et international. Découvrez la richesse de cet incontournable élément de parure autour de créateurs de bijoux, plasticiens, photographes, joailliers, experts ou historiens, menant une réflexion sur le corps et la parure.

Pendant le festival, le showroom/atelier de Minicyn, une ancienne boucherie, accueillera une exposition sur le thème ‘Abattoir Végétal’, ce lieu convient parfaitement à l’exposition collective de notre petit groupe d’artistes.
Anna Vlahos à écrit ces quelques lignes pour décrire notre travail :

J’ai envoyé mes arbres à la boucherie.
Car ce que nous mangeons est en train de changer.
J’ai envoyé mes arbres à la boucherie. Mais elle n’est plus là.
Il y a tant de façons de sauver le monde.
Cette année, nous avons appris à le faire en restant dans nos salons.
Mais nous pouvons aussi sauver le monde dans nos cuisines.
Si notre nourriture vient des arbres et des jardins, plutôt que des élevages et des abattoirs.
Alors nous pourrions bien sauver le monde encore une fois.
J’ai fait une petite forêt, parce que la nourriture peut pousser dans les arbres.

PARCOURS BIJOUX is a series of Paris events devoted to contemporary jewellery design within and beyond France. Here you can explore the rich variety of this vital aspect of embellishment with jewellery designers, visual artists, photographers, jewellers, experts and historians, as they reflect on the body and how we adorn it.

During the festival, Minicyn’s showroom/atelier formerly a butcher shop will be a host for our group exhibition ‘Vegetal Slaughterhouse’.
Anna Vlahos has written this statement in response to our theme.

I sent my trees to the butcher shop. Because what we are eating is changing.
I sent my trees to the butcher shop. But it is not there anymore.
There are many ways to save the world.
This year we learn to do so by staying in our living rooms.
But we can also do it in our kitchen.
If our food came from trees and gardens, rather than pens and abattoirs.
We might save the world again.
I made a little forest, because food can grow on trees.

My Summer in Paris

My shop remains open for the next month or so as I am doing my best to stay away from crowds and taking long flights. I’m lucky enough to have one of my favourite parks just a 2-minute walk from my apartment in Paris #buttesChaumont which allows me to stay in touch with nature.

Hope everyone is well as our world reopens to a new norm.
I'd smoothly finally relocated back to my showroom/atelier last week in 18th arrondissement. Being able to work freely, hammering as loud as I need to and creating dust in a space meant for just that makes everything feel fantastic! I'd even received a client the day after relocation :)

Ready made unique Oval Moonstone rings in silver and 2 new members for the Connections collection #face earrings in gold-plated brass – all hand crafted from scratch.
